-Brain fog – the most common cause
-What is SIBO and how could SIBO cause brain fog?

Hey Folks,

It’s Dr. Gerstmar from Aspire Natural Health

And in this quick video, part 1 of a 2 part series, I want to talk to you about brain fog, probiotics, and SIBO.

Oh boy, this is a good one. We’re going to talk about a few different things, but before we do, I need to mention probably the single most important concept you can master when it comes to understanding your health.

Are you ready for it?

Context matters.

Context matters.

This may sound simple, but as human beings we want simple, black & white answers. Like probiotics are always good or always bad.

The reality though is that things aren’t that simple.

Today we’re going to start our discussion about brain fog, probiotics, and SIBO. And the fact of the matter is that not all brain fog is the same, not all SIBO is the same. And probiotics are absolutely going to help some people, do little to nothing for others, and as we’ll talk about today, make things worse for some people.

So when you are reading something on the internet, or looking at a study, or a health practitioner is telling you something, beware absolutes, the “you should always…” or “you should never…” or “everyone…”. Because there are very few absolutes in health or in life.

So, remember, context matters. What’s going to help one person or situation won’t always help other people.

Okay, with that out of the way, let’s move on.

Brain fog. We work with loads of people who suffer from brain fog.

Brain fog is when you feel cloudy, confused, have trouble making decisions, remembering, and concentrating.

Lots of issues can cause brain fog. Probably the biggest cause is inflammation.

You know how when you get sick with a cold or flu that you suffer from brain fog?

Well the inflammation from your immune system fighting off the virus causing your sickness, is what causes your brain fog.

We see a lot of people suffering with digestive issues or autoimmunity, and the inflammation from those issues, is what causes that brain fog for many of those people.

There are a lot of digestive issues that can cause brain fog, like “leaky gut” and food sensitivities.

And another cause can be SIBO or Small Intestine Bacterial Overgrowth.

Now if you’re new to SIBO, normally our small intestine is going to have a small amount of bacteria in it, that is normal and healthy. But, if our small intestine gets a large amount of bacteria in it, bad things start to happen.

The most common symptoms of SIBO are things like stomach pain, bloating, burping, farting, fullness, indigestion, nausea, diarrhea, or vomiting.

But one of the other symptoms that is less common but still really significant for some people is brain fog.

There’s a couple of different ways that SIBO can cause brain fog, but one way is through the production of lactic acid.

Most people have heard about lactic acid as the stuff that causes the burn in your muscle when you exercise, and that’s true. Lactic acid builds up when you exercise, but there are also gut bacteria that can produce lactic acid, and when there are too many of those bacteria they can produce enough lactic acid that it spills into your blood, and, if enough gets to your brain it can cause brain fog.

So there you have it…

Brain fog formed after the use of probiotics. I am an orthopedic doctor. I used rifaximad for 12 days and then I ended it. Antibiotic disturbed me a bit. I am currently using only the fobmad diet and antideprsant. I would be very happy if you helped. I live in Turkey.
